EXAMINATIONS

 

The Central Board of Secondary Education on “Examination Reforms and Continuous and Comprehensive Evaluation (CCE)” calls for holistic evaluation of learners by strengthening CCE in Class IX with effect from October 2009. The Class IX students will be assessed through CCE by the school itself. The strengthened CCE Scheme in KVs as per CBSE guidelines, it would be logical to start CCE from class VI itself on the pattern of assessment as in case of class ix and x.

The Weightage of Formative Assessment (FA) and Summative Assessment (SA) shall be as follows:

As the CCE gives ample scope to child for continual and continuous improvement in all domains of learning, the provision of grace marks a stipulated under Article 106(C) of education will have no relevance from the academic session 2010-11 as all the students will be promoted to next class .The present system of CCE at primary level as stipulated under Article 106(B) will continue. The Provision of examination committee, re-examination, re-evaluation as stipulated in Article 106(F ) &(G)may also continue for greater flexibility , transparency and objectivity in the CCE system.

In class XI a candidate securing less than 33% marks in one or two subjects will be eligible to take supplementary examination in those subjects. The Candidate would be prompted to next higher class only if he/she secures 33% marks in these subjects in the supplementary examination. The supplementary examination shall be conducted three weeks after the declaration of results and would be conducted under the supervision of the Regional Office.

It is further clarified that the student has to pass separately in theory and practical with 33% marks in each part in Class XI.

If the student does not appear in supplementary examination due to medical and other reason, he/she will not be eligible for promotion to next class.

A pupil who fails at the examination (Class IX,XI) may be readmitted in the next session in the same class. A pupil who fails twice in the same class at the Annual Examination shall not be admitted under any circumstances.

After each Test/Examination progress reports of the Students will be shown to Parent/Guardian.  If the Student does not appear at the unit test, periodical test, session ending examination, he/she will be awarded “No Grade” for primary classes and “Zero” for the other classes. Medical Cases shall be viewed by the principal depending upon the merit of the case.
